Robin Claremont serves as director of resource and program development, managing fundraising and development, research and publications, and national networks. Previously, Robin taught piano and developed communications materials for a nonprofit music academy in Oaxaca, Mexico. She was program manager at the Environmental Leadership Program, managing its national fellowship program, serving on the organization’s internal diversity team, and helping develop diversity curriculum for the ELP Fellowship. Robin also edited the organization’s publications and managed communications.
Bill Friedman is a consultant on our leadership education and organizational consulting teams. He brings over fifteen years of experience in consulting and training to the public and private sector. Bill has developed and delivered an array of programs on such topics as Diversity in the Workplace, Leadership, Communication, High Performing Teams, Sexual Harassment and Supervisory Skills. His commitment to diversity and social justice issues is a central part of his work to improve relationships in the workplace.
Karen Johns serves on our diversity pipeline team. In addition to her work with DM, Karen partners with corporations and educational institutions to build a diverse educational and workforce pipeline. Previously, Karen served as executive director of the Diversity Pipeline Alliance, a national network of leading organizations who share a mission of preparing people of color for leadership and management in the 21st century workforce. She is a frequent speaker on topics of philanthropy in communities of color and workforce pipeline development. She serves on the board of the Sage Colleges and has served on several advisory boards including Bennett College, Morgan State University, Junior Achievement and the Tufts University Alumni Council.
Mark Kaplan is a consultant on our leadership education and organizational consulting teams. Mark has been consulting since 1986 advising organizations in the areas of diversity management, assessment and strategy development; management development; executive coaching; team building and group dynamics; and organizational assessment. Mark was a pioneer in assisting organizations to integrate sexual orientation into diversity initiatives. He has been published in The Diversity Factor and The Promise of Diversity and quoted in numerous national publications.
Amber Mayes is a consultant on our leadership education, organizational consulting, and Diversity Learning Community teams. Amber is an organization development consultant and coach with a decade of experience facilitating the learning and growth of organizations and individuals. She specializes in diversity consulting and training, strategic direction setting, team development, and professional and life coaching. Her passion is creating environments where individuals and organizations can optimize their potential and performance. Amber has taught as an adjunct professor at Bentley College and Northeastern University. Within her research and academic pursuits, Amber has particular interest and expertise in issues pertaining to multiracial identity and inter-racial relationships.
Kim-Loi Mergenthaler is coordinator of programs and client services, working on all aspects of client support, program registration, event management and financial tracking. Previously, Kim has worked in communications and fundraising for a variety of nonprofit organizations, including assisting in the community campaign at United Way, providing editorial assistance at The Forum on Religion and Ecology, coordinating foundation and individual fundraising for the Environmental Leadership Program, and managing membership and publications for The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning. Kim is committed to making the work of progressive organizations relevant to people from a wide range of cultural and economic backgrounds.
Angela Park is founder/executive director managing all facets of the organization’s development, communications, client strategy, and programming. Previously, she worked at The White House in both terms of the Clinton/Gore administration, was cofounder and deputy director of the Environmental Leadership Program, and coordinated state level sustainable development policy initiatives at the Center for Policy Alternatives. Angela has testified before Congress and state legislatures and been published most recently by Yale University Press, Grist Magazine and The Diversity Factor. She is an adjunct professor at Antioch University New England and serves as Vice Chair of Women’s Voices for the Earth. Angela participated in the inaugural class of the Donella Meadows Leadership Fellows Program and was named a Young Woman of Achievement by the Women’s Information Network.
